Presentation

This Master is directed by the internationally recognized specialist in medical and surgical retina, the Distinguished Professor Doctor Luis Emilio Abad.

Ophthalmology is the medical specialty that is responsible for the treatment of eye diseases. In the subspecialty of the retina, its objective includes the diagnosis of disorders and diseases of the retina by means of various tests. Some pathologies of the retina require the application of a pharmacological treatment, this is the case of infectious and inflammatory processes. In other cases they may require surgical interventions

Given the amount of scientific advances in ophthalmology, we believe that updated training in the retina is necessary in a personalized way. That is why the number of students is limited to a minimum of 1 and a maximum of 2, so that they can take full advantage of the knowledge of the ophthalmologist teachers involved in the master’s degree, especially at the practical level in consultation, surgery, documentation collection for publications and studies in progress, and also theoretically attending the clinical sessions of the doctors and preparing the sessions in which they present topics of interest that they have had to prepare previously. These works make up the mandatory research work that the student develops during the course. The final master’s project will be to write a research paper with scientific methodology.

Goals

– Due to the increase in the complexity of the diagnoses and the amount of treatments that are present in ophthalmology, we believe that subspecialization is necessary in the different parts of the eye and the pathologies that affect them as well as the therapeutic possibilities that there are as a result of the combination of these treatments.

– This Master wants to expand knowledge in the diagnosis and medical and surgical treatments of the pathologies of the Retina. Expand knowledge in surgery techniques, acquire skills with the most current complementary examination equipment and in the different innovative surgical techniques.

Access requirements

Health Bachelor’s degree, Optometry, degree in Medicine or specialty in Ophthalmology, with some previous experience and high level of English.

Diagnosis and treatment of patients in hospitals, ophthalmology department, ophthalmological centers and clinics, etc.

Today people care increasingly for leading a healthy way of life. There are many therapies in the field of natural health sciences that have not been properly addressed by the traditional university and that can be studied through ICERE with Crown University Int´l Chartered Inc. and West Coast University Int´l Chartered Inc. distance learning degree programs.
The requirements for the therapeutic professional practice in any specialty of natural health depends much on the country. There are independent associations that assume certain regulation of the therapeutic professional practice, but they rarely possess governmental recognition. The majority of the problems of the therapeutic professional practice derive from irresponsible attitudes, the misleading use of the term “doctor”, or the actual intrusion into the medical and clinical aspects of health. A preventive and complementary approach to natural health sciences is the best guarantee for successful practice. A ICERE with Crown University Int´l Chartered Inc. and West Coast University Int´l Chartered Inc. distance learning degree program constitutes a good way to provide a solid support to your career as a professional therapist.

Faculty of Life & Earth Sciences – Online learning

Science is in permanent evolution. ICERE with Crown University Int´l Chartered Inc. and West Coast University Int´l Chartered Inc. distance learning degree programs from this faculty of science allow access to specialization in which the student can choose the topics of his or her interest in order to design a distance learning degree program completely adapted to his or her vocation.
There are usually no impediments for the professional practice of these disciplines at medium level scientific posts, at managerial positions, or from a vocational point of view. A distance learning degree program is not the best option for advanced scientific research. Admission into these programs is restricted and limited to qualified candidates with demonstrated theoretical and technical knowledge in their fields of study due to the fact that many of the credits required in scientific specialization cannot be provided effectively through distance learning higher education. A ICERE distance learning degree program constitutes an effective way to complement a traditional scientific background with innovative approaches and further specialization. Professional Practice

These Universities provides much more than a diploma. The graduation set documents provide a comprehensive report of your academic achievements, credits earned and transferred, course descriptions, program textbooks, we send it via e-mail. The Graduation set documents do prove the extent and depth of your program of study at both Universities.

We send all the documents by private mail to the student’s address. These documents are: Diploma, Diploma Supplement, Transcript, Evaluation Reports (Academic Evaluation Control Form), Research Evaluation Form (Thesis or Projects).

The corresponding learning outcomes levels are achieved following the both Universities study guide, academic assignment instructions, and through the presentation of the required evaluation units: Reports (20-35 pages), Project (over 50 pages) & Thesis (over 70 pages).

One report (20 to 35 pages) will usually account for 3 subject courses of 3 credits each. One report is usually assigned to cover around 350 to 400 pages of a textbook. Thus, the following pedagogical effort is calculated:

– 1 Report = 9 credits = 135 hours of notional learning

– 375 pages reading and comprehension = 54 hours (40%)

– Comprehensive reading is assigned an average speed of 7 pages per hour

– Comprehensive reading includes note taking time

– Data organization and report draft writing = 40 hours (30%)

– Notes and data organization is assigned around 10 hours per report

– Report draft writing is assigned an average speed of 1 page per hour

– Report review and formatting = 27 hours (20%)

– Includes textbook review reading and final report writing and formatting

– Critical thinking, conclusion, and opinion = 14 hours (10%)

– Personal quality thinking is considered to happen along the study process.

– Conclusion and opinion are supposed to happen at the end of the process.

These Universities distance learning higher education evaluation method encourages the development of critical thinking and information processing. The professors base the evaluation of the material (reports, projects, and/or thesis) submitted by the students on three criteria; each accounting for one third of the final grade.

33% Format:

The organization and presentation of the information.

Evaluation of the format accounts for data organization, hierarchy, interrelationships, and clarity of presentation.

Affidavit – Index – Font size and spacing – Content breakdown (parts, chapters…)

Detailed index (Pages numbered…) – Data organization – Clarity (Orthography) – Aesthetics.

33% Content:

Reflects how much the report matches the bibliography.

Evaluation of the content is based on the comprehension of the material as well as the student’s synthesis skills and concept interaction. Report contents are valued only as 33% of the final grade because the textbook is available for the student throughout report elaboration.

Minimum length – Subject key points – Concept interaction – Topic adequacy.

Maximum length – Topic analysis – Synthesis skills – Comprehension level.

33% PQT- Personal Quality Thinking:

Shows how the subject is mastered through case studies, personal comments, and the ability to apply the information learned to problem-solving. Evaluation of the PQT shows the student’s analysis criteria and critical thinking, as reflected in the writing and presentation style.

Fluent Writing – Charts, illustrations… – Original work (no copy/paste) – Communication efficacy.

Personal writing style – Case analysis (or arguments) – Case resolution (or topic conclusion) – Critical thinking (Opinion).
